“On December 12, 2025, Helpers screened for Portland's Homelessness Response Action Plan advisory, implementation, and steering committees at 40LB Coffee in downtown Portland. Sharing my film with policymakers who shape our city's response to homelessness felt especially profound. The screening took place mere blocks from where I wandered the streets as an unhoused person a decade ago. Following the screening, I had a productive lunch with Mayor Keith Wilson that set the stage for a planned interview in the new year. I also had an opportunity to meet City Councilor Eric Zimmerman. I'm grateful to share my story with those who impact policy, staying true to Common Lens Films' mission of documenting truth and inspiring change.”
